Time to Crossfit

That is right ladies and gents I completed my 1st Crossfit class. I have to admit I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. I am only as familiar as the competitions I have seen on television. I tried gaining as much knowledge as possible but the only thing left to do was take the class!. I walked in to the end of one class as I was early for my own 7 pm class ( I hate being late) I was greeted by a few people which helped in taking my nerves down a notch. I soon later met the instructor and got right to work. From the warm up (row machine..500 m, ring pull ups) to shoulder press variations I felt all the movements. By the end  I was happy I completed it and now time for a day off.

Thank you JP Crossfit

Color of choice

They say you shouldn’t wear white after labor day…..

Well it seems getting the chance to wear white before then is the next best option. Summer time is in full swing and during this time I have noticed a very noticeable presence for the color white.

What is it about white and the summertime that go hand in hand.

From white dresses to shoes, pants, bags its everywhere!

I will definitely keep a look out on what this summer will bring.

Broaden my horizons

Yesterday one of my co-workers asked me if I wouldn’t mind taking a walk with her to pick up a few items at a supply store for one of our new hires. She was looking to create a welcome gift basket. I agreed to go(it was a nice summer day).

We found our way to The Bees Knees Supply store. From the outside In,thought “what is this?”, “what is she going to find here?” When we walked in I immediately spotted some honey jars. I instantly developed a confused look on my face as I wasn’t sure what my co-worker was trying to accomplish. As we walked further into the store I discovered they had some really interesting knick knacks and food options. Some of these products were locally made which was also a nice element.

Its amazing what you find when you open your eyes. Being exposed to new things can be a great experience. Let’s just say I will be back again.

CMC Virtual Assistance

CMC Virtual Assistance is my vision which has been in my head for some time. Over the last several months I have worked on developed  this vision, concept, “my baby” as some would call it.

CMC Virtual Assistance is a virtual assistant business geared towards providing social media maintenance to small businesses. As we all know social media has become a way of life any for a small business owner staying up to date with daily posts, video, pictures, etc can be very time consuming. This is where my business comes in!

I would be lying if I said I have been nervous and at times second guessed myself which translated in not actively promoting this business venture I have created, but this is a vision I have to share and bring to fruition.

For my Hip Hop heads

I’ll be honest and say that I am not the biggest hip hop head. I enjoy music. Period. Neo Soul is my favorite type of music but I do have moments where I am entertained by a good old fashioned battleground rap battle. Last week while listening to Hot 97 I heard that Joe Budden and Hollow the Don would be battling each other followed by Murda Mook vs. Loaded Lux, which are two prominent battle rappers in this type of music.

This past weekend I came across the show “The Road to Total Slaughter” a show on Fuse Tv showing the battleground rap battles leading to the culmination at the Total Slaughter. I find rap battles interesting because they convey so much passion for the art of words. Words matter in this area. Your words become your identity to those listening. The interaction between the  opponents almost take on the feel of a boxing match. Of course there is mental preparation but there is also a physical preparation component as well. The dedication of these artists must be respected.

Check out this episode of “Brighter Lights” Rap battle. Thanks Fuse TV!!

Women can have it all…or can we?

I was getting ready to write about this very topic but Demetria Lucas of A Belle in Brooklyn and The Root beat me to it.

The articles discussed this now popular topic according to the thoughts of Pepsi’s CEO Indra Nooyi. Nooyi took the position that “she didn’t think women could have it all-whatever all means…”

Where has the interest on this question come from? Why now? There may be some women who feel they have it “all” already. Who are we to say they don’t have it already?

I am sure this will not be the last we hear of this question.

Blogger inspiration

I have been on and off for sometime with blogging. Keeping up with fresh content on a daily basis can be a tough process. I think I am on a good roll right now with #theeverydaychronicles. I hope this blog can gain a following and provide a level of relate ability that can reach people throughout the world. I am always looking for ways to be inspired to write and connect and I have found a few bloggers to provide some bogging inspiration.

Demetria Lucas

This NY based author, reality star and life coach has been the foundation for me in how to connect and format from a blogging standpoint. A belle in Brooklyn has been a site that began more as a dating/ everyday life blog and has now turned into a mind of its own. I greatly appreciate the transformation into the brand that it has become today.

Joi Marie & Tiffany Probasco – The FabEmpire

I have been following The Fab Empire  blog for some time now and have been able to attend some great events as a result of it. The Fab empire covers the DC, Baltimore, NYC and Boston metropolitan area for social and community events catered to the young black professional.  This is a site that I enjoy because the Editor in chief Joi Marie is a woman that has made a point to cater to people like myself. Not only does she have a day job as a news producer for ABC but she has capitalized on a vision that has grown and continues to grow for a niche group. I am always interested in seeing women create a vision and see it through.

I have been fortunate enough to meet Tiffany in person several times at a few social  and community events. I have admired her approach to blogging and staying connected. Overall their following is impressive and continues to keep me motivated in the blogging space.
